The best way to look at a ceramic coating is to think of it as a second layer or a sacrificial layer of protection on top of your cars clearcoat. A ceramic coating seals all the pores in your paintwork making it water repellent. You’ll find many videos across the internet demonstrating water falling off a car when a ceramic is applied, this makes it easier to wash and helps protect your car from imperfections such as UV raise, scratches, chemicals and extreme heat. The layer of ceramic is completely transparent, but leaves your car with a gloss effect and looking like a mirror.

There is a process to detailing which leads to being able to apply and cure a ceramic coating. The process begins with a wash, claybar, de-iron and de-tar (this is know as paint decontamination). Your paintwork needs to be decontaminated to ensure no contaminates are attached to your paintwork when the polishing process begins or paint protection application. The reason for this being, once polishing begins any contaminants left will only cause deep or light surface scratches and any contaminants that remain will affect the bond of the protection to the paintwork. We then move on to a paint depth reading, this ensures the areas of paintwork we polish are thick enough to begin the process (the reason for this being that polishing areas with paintwork too thin could completely burn through the clear coat and paint itself). Before we apply the ceramic, a final panel wipe is conducted over the car to remove oil or polish residue. The paint protection is then applied (our ceramics are cured using infrared heat lamps. Heat is needed to bond the ceramic to the paintwork, the length of time it takes to do this is dependant on the chosen ceramic.

A new car detail differs from new car protection in that a machine polish is included. It is not uncommon for a brand new vehicle to leave the showroom with imperfections in the paintwork. While it may have been washed incorrectly with the dealership, scratches occurred while in transit. A machine polish will remove these imperfections and enhance the appearance for a near perfect finish.
Our new car protection service includes exterior ceramic protection from a choice or either Krypton K5 3 year ceramic, self healing K9 5 years ceramic or 10 year self healing Krypton crystal Sirius ceramic. With this interior leather and/or upholstery protection may be added. As with all of our vehicle detailing services, the exterior receives a safe wash and full decontamination (claybar, de-iron, de-tar). With this service we perform a light machine polish the vehicle and panel wipe before the chosen protection application and cure. Our ceramic application is full coverage of the exterior, including – paint, plastics, chrome, lights, side windows, face and barrel of alloys and wheel arches.

A 3 stage polish using a heavy, medium and fine compound to remove a minimum of 95% of all imperfections within the paintwork (where safe to do so) to release the ultimate gloss and mirror effect of your paintwork.
