The diagram below shows the types of damage and visible marks that can occur in your paintwork. When your vehicle has anything embedded into the paintwork that runs beyond the base and primer coat then its not possible to fully polish/buff out these marks/scratches, although it is possible to make these less visible. Any deep scratching that occur depending on how much paint there is to play with, we can use a wet sanding technique to flatten and remove deep scratching (this is where we use a paint depth gauge and assess how deep the scratch is).
Oxidation is light damage. This is caused by the UV rays and makes your vehicles paintwork very dull and old. This can be corrected with a polish and LSP (last stage protection) added to resist against the elements.
